Whether you’ve heard guitarist Dave Stryker leading his own group (with 30 CD’s as a leader to date), or as a featured sideman with Stanley Turrentine, Jack McDuff, and many others, you know why the Village Voice calls him “one of the most distinctive guitarists to come along in recent years.” He was recently voted once again into the 2021 Downbeat Critics and Readers Poll for the 12th time.

DAVE’S NEW CD AS WE ARE IS HERE! (If you have any problems ordering it on the site it is also available as both download and physical CD at Dave’s bandcamp page.)
“With As We Are, the jazz gods have alighted on the guitarist and elevated his playing, his composing, his soloing, and his music. A beautiful, bittersweet concept album, As We Are includes pianist/ arranger Julian Shore, bassist John Patitucci, and drummer Brian Blade, who convey new-found depth and empathy to Stryker’s compositions. A shimmering string quartet led by Sara Caswell enhances some of the finest compositions of his 30-year career….2022 is a great time to be Dave Stryker. And to be a lover of his music, and the gift that is As We Are.” Ken Micallef / Jazz Times Jan 2022

Hello Dave,
I’m a fan and former student (Summer of 2002 or thereabouts). I looked up who the guitarist was on Kevin Mahogany’s recording of Tears of a Clown on his album Pride and Joy, and saw that it was you! By any chance do you have a written arrangement of that particular songs’ recording? I’d very much like to purchase it..
Thank you very much.
Sincerely,
Mike O’Leary

Hi Dave,
I have listened to you for years and I just read the article in Jazz Guitar Today.
I see you collect PolyTone 15s. I have one in mint condition, used less than 15 times. In the 1990s I emceed a jazz guitar series. I have a 1995 PolyTone Mini Brute IV that I had many of the artists sign such as Jim Hall, Bucky Pizzarelli, Mundell Lowe, Kenny Burrell, Larry Coryell, Jimmy Bruno, Vignola, Alden, even Stochelo Rosenberg. I also have posters from the same series signed by Herb Ellis, Charlie Byrd as well the people mentioned above. These have been sitting in my studio for 20 plus years , let me know if you or anyone you know may be interested.
By Dave July 27, 2019 - 10:35 am
HI Mark
Haha…sounds like a nice one but I have plenty!
If I hear of anyone interested in anything I will let you know.
thanks

Greetings, Dave. Big fans here for you & Jared Gold. If you’d like our help in promoting your Oct gigs in New Orleans, you can send us mp3s from the latest ‘8 Track’ release. Maybe a side gig in Baton Rouge before or after your N.O. shows. I’ve sent your info to the BR Arts Council for consideration.
